Runivore is proud to announce the 8th edition of Explore Your Backyard. Once again we’re working with our co-organizers the mighty Beast Runners to bring you an awesome triple distance event. This time around we’re heading back to the beautiful, yet challenging, hills of Tucheng (venue: MiaojieTemple).
THREE EVENTS
A Few Key Things About the Distances
The 23 km distance can be quite tough, so we have a few extra regulations:
1) If you don’t make it to CPA by 9:30AM, then you will be automatically changed to 13km category.
2) There is a cut time at CP2 at 1PM (approximately 16.5km mark)
3) The total designated time for the 23km race is 7 hours. You should be back by 3PM.
For the 13km course we have a total designated time of completion of 6 hours. You should be back by 2:30PM.

Race Pack Pickup Info
Packets must be picked up in person at Vegan Taipei No. 11號, Lane 378, Section 4, Xinyi Rd, Da’an District, Taipei City, 106 on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday prior to the race. Out of town participants can pick up their packs on race day at 6:30AM – 7:30AM.
All participants must provide a signed up copy of the waiver form. Copies will be available at pickup, however, if you’re picking up on behalf of others, they must download (DOWNLOAD FORM) and fill in the form so you can submit it on their behalf. You can find your bib number here: http://backyard.run/participants All runners must also sign their own insurance form which will be made available at pickup and must be returned to us prior to the race to ensure coverage.

- 6:30 AM – 7:30 AM Registration Pack Pickup for out-of-town participants

- 7:50 AM Final Pre-Race Instructions
- 8:00 AM 23 KM Trail Race Starts
- 8:45 AM 13 KM Trail Race Starts
- 9:00 AM 7 KM Fun Run/Hike Starts
- 11:00 AM Lunch is Served
- 12:00 PM Award Ceremony
RACE PACK
All race participants will receive in their race pack: T-Shirt, Small Gift from Runivore/Beast Runners, Head Buff, Race Bib, Drop Bag tag.
All finishers will receive a finisher’s gift.
PRIZES
Top 5 Male and Female finishers in the 23k and Top 5 Male and Female finishers in the 13k categories will receive a trophy and a collection of prizes from participating sponsors.
Additional Exceptional Runner Awards will be given.
POST RACE LUNCH
Our motto is EAT WELL RUN WELL, we take care to select an awesome and healthy post race meal for the runners. It will include a vegetarian main dish and plenty of fruit, a delicious dessert, and selection of beverages (we usually have a craft beer as an option and all you can drink chia fresca)
OUR PROMISE
We started Explore Your Backyard in 2015 with the simple goal of helping the citizens of Taipei explore the abundant hidden natural beauty in and around our little city. That goal continues and we are happy to see more and more runners and hikers join us in our little adventure. With every new year we strive to make the race MORE CHALLENGING for the badasses and aspiring badasses who join, MORE FUN for the more casual runners, and MORE GREEN both in the way we manage the event and our message of moving towards more veggie diet.
